Roleplaying is like acting, or adding lines to a story. There are two types of roleplays: Third person omnicient and first person.
Third Person Omnicient: This type of roleplay is more like adding lines to a story. When you join a roleplay, the summary of what the roleplay is about is usually there. There is also a form. Copy this form and go to the bottom of the page and paste it in the post box. The form is a form to create your character for the roleplay, so fill it out and post it. Once the roleplay begins, someone will post a starting post about their character. Usually the characters all start in the same area. You can add a few lines about your character's actions, thoughts, and feelings. It's like you are a third person but can read your character's mind, and you can only control your character, not other people's. In the example below, Person One's character is named Mickey, Person Two's is named Goofy, and Person Three's is named Donald.
Person One: Mickey looked at Goofy and Donald. "Let's go to the Toontown park," he suggested.
Person Two: Goofy nodded. "Okay," he said, beginning to walk to the park.
Person Three: Donald followed, grumbling about having to walk.
First Person First person roleplaying is like acting. You fill out a form, like in Third person omnicient, but you post like you are your character. You must post your character and a colin (:) first, though, so people don't forget who your character is. In the example below, Person 1, 2, and 3's characters are the same as above.
Person One: Mickey: I looked at Goofy and Donald. "Want to go to the Toontown park?" I suggested brightly.
Person Two: Goofy: I nodded. "Okay," I said, and followed Mickey eagerly.
Person Three: Donald: I followed, grumbling about having to walk.
Good luck and have fun roleplaying! If you're still confused, just join a roleplay, and you'll soon get the hang of it. ;)
